Please help me identify the maker and age of my platter? I thank you in advance. I know it must be early due to the crowns on both lions. The passant has a barbed tail

Sorry, no idea on maker but with the crown it would be pre 1822, I believe. Have a look here: http://www.silvercollection.it/englishsilverhallmarks.html .

Thanks, I do feel that this one is most likely pre-1800 but I just can't find anything to match the double crowned lion and star. The creature on the front withe the long tongue is also intriguing and may hold clues to the maker, but again, it matches nothing that I have researched. Again, thanks for the comments; Greg

This doesn't look like english hallmarks to me. At a first glace these look like pseudo hallmarks. Can I ask why you think this is early? If it was anytime before 1890 it would have a duty mark. I do not think this is English.

This is not the lion passant. If I had to take a best guess here I would say this is a German plate. See this link for Hanau pseudo markings. No doubt this is a beautiful plate, but I do not think it is English.

Wow! It never even occurred to me that this piece could be anything but English. Although the Hanau marks didn't match either, there were some similarities. I guess I need to think outside the box on this one. Thanks for the insight; Greg
