Hello everyone!!
I’ve had my eye on this Emperor Penguin for quite some time now, but it was far out of my price range. Lo and behold, it was on sale for 1/2 price a few weeks ago and I bought right away.
Anyway, he was unpainted and severely rusted when I got him. I cleaned him, sealed him and painted him the colors he’s supposed to be. The detail on this penguin is incredible. The feet are so detailed they almost appear real. Very much out of the ordinary for cast iron to be this detailed. This one was cast in Germany around 1990. It was cast in three separate pieces. The front and back as well as the feet and tail are all separate pieces welded together. The foundry, that cast this penguin, cast it so well that you have to study it very closely to detect the weld seams. He’s fairly large and measures nearly 20” tall and weighs in at nearly 28lbs!!

Thanks very much!! I have an acre of lawn to mow and it seems that I'm always doing something to it. I aerate and dethatch every spring and fall. I put 1000-1200lbs of pelletized lime on it every fall. So, I do love working in my lawn. I have three dogs that keep it fertilized. It took me a good while to break them from digging in the lawn.
