I'm hoping to find out what the hallmarks are on my silver tray, is it actually sterling silver? It has scratches and black marks on the surface (I have had people tell me it's not sterling because of these marks and that the hallmarks don't mean anything)?
Also engraved on the back is:
    Made in England
    for Spaulding and Company
    Chicago
Thank-you for any information that can be shared.

I have been looking but better photos of the hallmarks would be helpful.
it's hard to tell but the makers mark (the first one) looks like Edward Barnard and Sons from 1934-1990 the date mark (the last) is an L (but it looks funny) which is 1946 which fits and the Lion is the mark for sterling silver, and is the 3rd mark a leopard (very hard to tell) which is London where the maker comes from?
