The photo's are not to good . She appears to be a Gofun Geisha doll which were common tourist dolls sent home by servicemen to wife, child ect or brought back from Japan . Popular in 1960s-70s. I am not familiar with the costumes of Japanese do say who she represents. Gofun is a mix of crushed oyster shells and glue . If artist signed not sure what your coving up ? Beautiful

Im covering up the plate that says from whom and to whom it was given for, privacy sake. I was part of the staff and was given this as a gift upon the retiring of the person to whom it was given.

That is good to cover then .I was not sure if it was artist signature . These dolls were made in various qualities . Yours being done extremely well . Each dress style has a meaning which I would hope someone with a Japanese background could identify .
Here is one similar . Depending on doll prices vary greatly.https://www.ebay.com/itm/154873888436?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110018%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.COMPLISTINGS%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D237147%26meid%3D33b5713a957a4d1292a76fecec26df63%26pid%3D101197%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D325049159820%26itm%3D154873888436%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DItemStripV101HighAdFee&_trksid=p2047675.c101197.m1850&amdata=cksum%3A15487388843633b5713a957a4d1292a76fecec26df63%7Cenc%3AAQAGAAAB8J3AHSiYFz9PWdVwjBcJl%252B47LmU8ZAkgo2Fb3y1M0Lw3KrCIsItNFdWYIZzVa9wjupNmBqgp4eTNHV4qyGjAaCFFxMD%252Bjz64GSY8cYz4IfXqSUyKPf0yRs0w1CfvH0b7AF4cAhY%252FVZLdUbgZkB%252ByYAwF4p70ZgkxAA2qlv4qvu8icqfpvqBi7gVh74TU6zzxydMEV%252BmrRo4rEFZ3Ao5eYyVDuBbR0uy%252FFQgH1Wwem%252F02b%252Bjy7HlS%252Bn%252F8J1nU88bKQ6NMS6NgXg27Ohc%252FjpAdXfFXyj3nDyxJ7Cv3LogPQik%252BD0%252FO7B5XKeJa%252F3X%252Fjdj6CdRN1iBH1pyyTxU%252B5wspX%252FbTV%252Bem79ZjyMlUVrV20C7Jxy2JLbdOpXO6eN%252F3jRNZ4JmFJAsbQdAFTonGMDAy3RkTm8vghxTvW7zADvncEnTeX05lyOnKs3bQ2aCfVuIcz0vPpyjG3h7ZI%252BlwdXE6EIjwECWKWiT4PZGfEN1YO4yb1xSd8DOSkby7wwQiitWPre8p7kDOnOh42PDy2R4M0AFowlKFFe8i%252FgmHeW5%252Bf2z1K3J0%252BSC0xTFgeuJMdT8lvjeV%252FRlSFoDByNUZV2r8hKnG5YAsWfTiQLmsrTPZ1yqMiSxYTJjsXe%252FIqe2zKplZmVQJ6D6TY9tiSl%252BQVWdnHXg%253D%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2047675
