    I'm pretty sure this is world war 2. Whatever it is , it's German. As the coins embedded on it are. I am not sure though if it was part of a uniform. It kinda looks like a holder for matchsticks or something. Anybody has a clue that would be great. Thanks

      You don’t state dimensions but I agree with you that it could be a holder for a box of matches.
      Have you tried sliding a small box of matches into it?
