I would venture to say this isn't a coin. More a commemorative medallion of sorts.

This emblem is from a soccer team in Brazil, "Sport Club Internacional", founded in 1909.

Please check the link and go to the bottom of the page to see the emblem evolution. https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_Club_Internacional

Does this make any sense to you? Maybe someone in the family visited Brazil?

Mcheconi thanks but this is a British coin. I've seen this symbol on coins and medallions before but I didn't save the research. The soccer team might have used this symbol later on but this coin/medallion is from the early 1800's and is made in Great Britain. This coin was made into a medallion during its lifetime. The coin is made of sterling silver.

I understand that there's a British coin in this piece, but I am also pretty sure that the symbol isn't an original part o f the coin, but was added to create the pin or brooch.

The coin is a George III half crown from circa 1820. The other side should have King George's portrait.
