I found this at a garage sale. It's just over 11 inches tall with a pedestal-type base. It seems way to big to be a cocktail shaker! I tried regular google searching as well as a google image search and wasn't able to find anything similar. Hoping someone will be able to help me identify this item. I love the couple. They look like they're having fun!

Very interesting, I think, cocktail shaker. Mid century modern time period; with some art deco thrown in.
Love the snooty woman, but not sure about the guys 'look'. They're both just a little tipsy? She has a very daring dress.
I think it's too big to be a cocktail shaker. It's over 11 inches tall and a little more than 5 inches across at the widest part (near the top). Plus the pedestal bottom throws me off concerning the item's intended purpose. Could it be that it is just a mammoth shaker and it's missing the top? I do believe that it is a mid-century piece and it's meant to look retro to the roaring 20's, based on what the couple's formal attire looks like to me.

I'd tend to think it was a cocktail shaker (albeit a large-ish one) but for one question I can't quite discern from the pic. Is its top red-colored (and apparently also sadly chipped but nevermind that) rim actually "cylindrical" such that it could accept a now-missing stamped metal 'lid' of some sort? The pic makes it look like that part is actually tapered slightly outwards, if that's so perhaps it was just intended to be a 'shaker-shaped pitcher' instead...??
It is a FUN piece anyways -- don't forget that the world-in-general viewed "recreational drinking" in a QUITE different way back in the 1950's-60's... <lol>
The top is cylindrical (with sad chip), so it could have had a metal top at one point. I thought about it after I bought it and wondered why the red paint didn't seem warn. I would have assumed there would be some scratching or fading of the paint if there was a metal lid that was used, but maybe that's where the chip came from.
I know what you're saying about the views on drinking in the '50s and '60s...I've seen Mad Men! :-) I've seen quite a few of these vintage cocktail shakers over the years, but never one this size.

And there we have it thanks to TallCakes -- it had an 'internal' lid instead. Makes much more sense (also likely much more yummy shaken cocktails) now?!! <LOL>
The chip/lack of lid certainly wouldn't have stopped me from snatching it up ifn's I'd have come across it at a garage sale -- congrats for a FUN FIND anyways VintageFindsHM!! :-) :-) :-)

O.K., wait a minute... Did the one on Ebay sell for $1,600? I realize it was in mint condition and mine clearly has issues, but wow! I guess I need to keep this in a safe place!

I thought that was a little much, and too good to be true. I still think the $20 I paid for it was a nice vintage investment!
