    i've had many of these and i just sold one at the nursery the other day. this one is much finer work than the others i've posted. they didn't spare any expense when slathering on that thick turquoise glaze either.

      that's a great question valentino. I'm not sure the answer, but i bet it did have some kind of lid sealed with wax or something like that. thank you Jenni, Mani and valentino!

      martaban= marta ban is the stop over in myamar

      in dutch they are called matavaan in ancient Indie ( indonesia) they were holy, they stirred a rooster in the pot to get rain against the draught ,

      they slighty differ from tampajans ( cool-containers which are real value
