This is a vase from about 1950 designed by Toshichi Iwata.
It has some usual characteristics of his work, including the pulegoso white glass and clear case, but it is not a style I have seen from him before.
The burgundy glass additions have been moulded into a ribbed pattern prior to adding and pulled and cut to give the fan like ends.
It has a bit of an early Beranek look I think, but with Iwata's own take.
It came in a battered presentation wooden box, and there is some damage to the bottom of the burgundy additions, but I'm still happy to have it.
Height 18cm
Gorgeous vase, the white frosty glass is just beautiful, & the burgundy fans reach up like an embrace, really unique

Thanks Malkey, wonderburg is my new word. Love ya work mate!
That's a beauty Karen! I agree with Ken, it does appear to have two hands holding it. Very nice!!
Or an inverted Zemek 70038 for Mstisov???
It. Is FABULOUS !!!
Wonderful vase. I always look forward to seeing the Japanese glass you post -- something completely new (and exciting) for me.
Love these red hands reaching up the vase, conforming to the shape !~
Thanks Ken and Scott, my bois!
I like the cradling hand symbolism.
Thanks Kevin, glad you like it.
I'm looking for a pic now of the 70038.
Thanks Anik, glad to provide some interest. It's not we known glass :)
Lovely comment, thanks Phil!
Elegant lines, great texture and sinuous claws...... don't get too close :)
Da da daaaa......
Other worldly maybe Peggy? You have changed my view on it now, and I like that. Thanks!
Very unique vase Karen...love the "love" that seems to be going on in the design. :)
Very stylish but also disquieting if concerning to japanese horrors:)
Looks like hands rising up on the sides...Beautiful Karen as always !
