Found this brooch at a thrift store. Its marked weisco not Albert Weiss co.Im trying to find out more about my brooch. Does anyone know this stamp? Could it be Weiss's high end Line? The stones seem to be more sparkly then normal. Also you can see hints of gold the same color as it's setting but clear.I don't believe there are foil backs.Insite on dating and his higher end Line would be sparkling. Is it considered Crystal or rhinestone?

Does rhinestones always have foil or paste? Look at the center stone it is reflecting black the color of the back ground. I believe its because there is an open hole on the back of the brooch. See pic 2. That means there would be no foil or paste right? Does this mean it's Crystal and not rhinestone or simply that it's a clear rhinestone?Could it be an original piece?

Ps mis spelled the stamp marking. It's stamped weissco.

Crystal often refers to colour, as in crystal or clear rhinestones, which means the same. Prong set stones are always much better than glued stones. NEVER put rhinestones in water or liquid cleaner as they may not dry properly and the backings will rot.

The link says it all - article on vintage rhinestones. Very interesting and helpful. I need to read it myself.
