Does anyone know what this Pyro-freezometer antique thermometer was used for? It comes with a wooden case, says "patent applied for" and has a date of 1910. It also has a temperature conversion chart in it.

I think it's cool. It was in my great-grandmother's trunk with items she traveled to Europe with right before WWI broke out. I've googled it but found nothing. Anybody know anything? Thank you!

A hydrometer or areometer is an instrument that measures the specific gravity (relative density) of liquids—the ratio of the density of the liquid to the density of water. Used to test the ratio of antifreeze in the radiator.

Interesting! I didn't even know they had antifreeze in the 1910's or at least I hadn't thought about it! Thank you so much!
