I'm happy that I own this watch now as it reminds me of my old Girard Peregaux I left in a zip car 5 yrs back. I'd love to know if it is likely to be real or if I paid 45 dollars for an obvious fake. It works so I'm happy to have it regardless. Thanks for any help!
Would be nice to see some photos inside with the back cover removed.
It is very hard to remove the back of this type of watch.
Unfortunately I don't have the right tool to unscrew it.
It is better not to try and remove it without a watch repair mans wrench. These are nice watches.
dont know if you want to try it but a ball of duct tape in your hand sticky side out you can usually unscrew most all screw on backs,..and since no tool involved doesnt scratch the metal,...
I took it to a local watchmaker here in Greenpoint Brooklyn and asked if he could look inside. The band was all moldy, the face looked like it had been affected and I wanted to know if the works also had mold or rust. I told him that I was 100% ready to be told that it was fake but since it worked as a 45$ watch, I was happy. He struggled to open it but after a few tries, it unscrewed and he looked up at me smiling in disbelief and said, "Is GOOD!" He's been in the business forever and has written about watches for some time. I was thrilled! I'll add a picture of the works if I can.
