Marked P & F SCHAFER 27 PICCADILLY. They were high end retailers. This is a large 11 blade, plus four pull outs 16 function knife. The master is a lock back, and is short/reshaped. I like to think it was made by MAPPIN, certainly fits their work, but if not, that's o.k., it's a great piece.
The sheath is original, and has the same markings as on the shield of the knife...a dragon and the initials C H L. The sheath is incredibly nice workmanship, and has silver hallmarks on metalwork.

Please show the hallmarks, as if they are British they can be dated and the maker named.
      Beautiful knife!

Green with envy! This is a superb knife. The wear on the main does not detract from the value at all.I have never seen a hanging sheath like this for a 19th C folder. The main appears to have a lock(?). How long is the knife when closed?

The beast on the sheath is a griffon - probably the emblem of the owner. The sheath would have been made by a separate maker and any hallmarks would only apply to them, not the knife.
Knives like this were often made by "little mesters" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_mester)
and marked for the contracting retailer rather than the actual maker(s). Only if you can research Schafer will you have even a slight slight chance of determining who actually manufactured this beautiful piece.

      Uncle Ron,
The knife is huge, 5 1/2" closed. The master S a lockblade.
