    Saw this at a garage sale in a tin of junk. It's about 2 inches long and has some holes in it with text saying: use holes only once

      Its a fiber optic cutter. Used for fiber optic sensors on machinery.

      In order for the Fiber optic cable to cleanly transmit the laser light, a good clean cut is needed. A used (dull) knife will leave serrations (or scratches) that will diffuse the light. This is a single use tool for setup. I own a professional splicer kit with knives that get sharpened before each use.
