The Goodwill had this piece. I was immediately drawn to the design and colors. There are to initials on the bottom BL and numbers 1/9 or 4/9. I think is porcelain due its very smooth soft texture. There is a hole, by design which I cannot imagine what was the intent. Any idea who this artist maybe?

When I see this shape with the hole I think noodle bowl. The hole is for chopsticks to rest.
It looks like a Western take on an Asian shape to me. Funky decor!

I think it's a yarn bowl. It stops the wool getting tangled everywhere while your knitting. Put the yarn in the bowl with the strand you're working with coming from the hole.

I never knew these things were so expensive.

Well! Never would have thought that. Thanks Gillian. Wow. Wish I had kept my yarns. LOL
