Murano Salviati Comport

This is a comport with gold leaf, and pink glass in the foot and bowl. Made in Murano Italy, probably by Salviati. Probably early 20th Century, but made in the style of Renaissance glass. When made the glass was covered with gold leaf before it was blown, creating a mottled gold pattern on the surface. A similar effect was created on the bowl and foot with pieces of pink glass. It is 9 inches high and across.

Just in case you were getting bored with my decanters I thought I would put this up. Theoretically I bought this for my wife about 20 years ago. Somehow it has migrated into my study.
