I must be doing or thinking skewey while researching this item...I can't come up with what it is called. The glass jar is hand-blown, and the metal fits around like a cage. This must be a particular style or technique, but I am stumped. Any knowledge to share? I am assuming at this point that the metal is "gold-toned" or brass, although it does show evidence (via small inconsistencies, soldering marks) of being hand-worked. No identifying marks.

Could easily be the function, yes. Some kind of vanity jar, yes. Just the right size, which I forgot to mention is 5 or 6" to tip of lid. It's the type of glass/artwork that has me stumped.
