    I was wondering if anyone could help me as to what these things are there is a R on one and a L on the other. I found them in my fathers Barn he must have got them at an auction years ago you know how people collect things

      They are for an extension ladder.

      I saw this I said whatttttttttttt..lol they hold the runs together ...might be off a wooden ladder ...look heavy dute

      Rustfarm hit it. They are called rung locks and mount on an extension ladder. I would say these are fairly old because the flippers appear to be metal. Now days the flippers are plastic so they break more often and buy more. I just bought a set of flippers for one of my fiberglass ladders and they were $18. Cheap plastic with springs that are even cheaper. Sign of the times.......throw away world with no quality.
