Hi there I just scored a large group of Watches from Vintage to modern pocket and wrist and all sorts of others. This one caught me eye it's a large 23 jewel Engine Special railroad pocket watch. Looks to have a porcelin face as well. Serial number on movement is 1084721. Case cover says B&B Royal 6717069. I'm curious as to who makes these watches and how to date it. I also don't know what it's made of maybe gold or plated gold. Also has interesting red stones or glass on movement. Please help with any information regarding.

I believe what you have there is what's commonly called a Swiss Fake.... I've seen this one before. Here's a great link that'll tell you more: http://www.pocketwatchrepair.com/swiss-fakes.html

Google trainmen's special pocket watch. I have one book that says the trainmen's special may have been produced by Seth Thomas or modeled after a Seth Thomas like Riply206 mentioned. But, it also states that it has "fake" glass jewels and is actually unadjusted... Pretty interesting. Sounds like a Swiss fake modeled after the Seth Thomas Century model... And yours looks to be a copy of that fake. I think all that should make it even more collectible!! lol... There really are a lot of people who collect these. Cool watch!!

What I find strange is that I can't find any thing on it to a company or city where it was made. From I was reading a lot the fakes have that and have slight mispellings and are 21j time to get a book and an expert.

I don't know much about watches but the way the back is worn sure makes it look old. Also the scratched markings inside the case are dates when the watch would have been serviced. That may help date it.
