Imperial German Reservist’s stein of Grenadier Moll who served in the 12th Company of the 109th Baden Leib (Life) Grenadier Regiment from 1907-1909. The 109th was the premier infantry regiment of the Grand Duchy of Baden, and was garrisoned in Karlsruhe. The regiment was attached to the XIV Corps, 28th Division, 55th Infantry Brigade. This stein has the scarce crown-on-pillow finial, and presents scenes of the reservists service during his two-year obligation to the Imperial German reserve army. There is some slight wear to the roster and lettering from actual use, so Grenadier Moll was no stranger to the tavern. Otherwise, the stein is flawless.

Bluemax I don't know anything about these steins - were they made in volume and the serviceman's name placed on them or individually made to order?

You must have shelves after shelves line with these. Don't know how you find them, but sure love seeing & admiring them!

racer4four, these were made to order for the reservists. They cost at least a month's pay so most of those serving could not afford to buy one. Those that did had custom scenes on the stein that they felt reflected their time in service. Elsewhere in this forum I have listed a "companion pair" with identical scenes, differing only in the name on the stein. These two reservists served at the same time, and in the same regiment and company and chose identical steins to remember their time as reservists for the Kaiser. There are only a handful of "companion pairs" known to exist.
