AFRICAN MOTHER AND CHILD STATUE

This statue intrigued me at first site , I've seen quite a few of the African statues and figurines on line and I can't seem to locate this type,it has some age to it and some damage to the hair ,but it is the form that puzzles me , the thickness of the body and the feet are very long even on the child and the body parts are so extreme ,almost in a folk style , the tribal markings are beautiful as well as the hair design, there is still some faint paint colors on the face, the statue seems to be made from soapstone at least that's what I think it is , the areas that are worn look kind of pinkish . any information would be welcome.
